What the FDA's Big Menopause News Means for You - And Why Hormones Alone Aren't the Whole Story

What the FDA's Big Menopause News Means for You - And Why Hormones Alone Aren't the Whole Story

Even with fresh headlines about hormone therapy, true feminine wellness still depends on daily hydration, fascia support, and gentle, hormone-free care that nourishes your body inside and out.

Let's get real about the news (and your body)

You've probably seen the headlines about the FDA removing black box warnings from hormone therapy.

I'm glad we're finally having honest conversations about menopause.

Women deserve nuanced information, not fear-mongering or oversimplified solutions.

Here's what's important to understand: The FDA update is genuinely good news for women who are good candidates for HRT and have been unnecessarily afraid.

But some of the rhetoric at Monday's announcement went too far, claiming that menopause "kills women" or that HRT is universally beneficial.

The truth, as always, is more nuanced.

For the many women who choose HRT with their doctor's guidance, this is progress.

For the millions who can't take hormones (due to blood clot risk, certain cancers, or personal choice), or who try them and still experience discomfort, your path matters just as much.

What Actually Changed (And What Didn't)

The FDA removed the broad black box warning that had been on hormone therapy since 2003.

This warning was based on an overly cautious interpretation of one study and created unnecessary fear for many women who could benefit from HRT.

What this means for you:

  • If you're considering HRT for hot flashes, night sweats, or bone health, the data shows it can be safe and effective for many women, especially when started within the first 10 years of menopause.

  • If you have a history of blood clots, stroke, certain cancers, or other risk factors, HRT may still not be right for you.

  • If you try HRT and still experience dryness, discomfort, or disconnection from your body, you're not broken; you just need a more complete approach.

  • Whether you choose HRT or not, daily support matters.
That's why I created the Rootganic supplement line, hormone-free formulas that nourish your fascia, microbiome, and nervous system from the inside. For immediate relief where you need it most, Rejuvenator and Down There Oil deliver gentle, botanical hydration that works in harmony with your body's natural intelligence. (More on both below.)

According to the North American Menopause Society (NAMS), more than 60% of women experience dryness, irritation, or urinary changes within a few years of menopause, but only about one in four seek treatment.

Now that the FDA has adjusted its guidance, more women are revisiting their options.

Yet many still want to combine medical care with natural, hormone-free solutions for daily comfort and confidence.

Where I Stand on HRT

I'm neither pro-HRT nor anti-HRT—I'm pro-informed choice and pro-whole woman care.

  • If HRT helps you feel like yourself again, that's wonderful.

  • If you can't take HRT or choose not to, you still deserve relief.

  • If you're on HRT and still uncomfortable, you're not imagining it; local care matters.

What I am against is the idea that any single solution works for every woman's complex biology.

Your body is SMARTER than that, and you deserve a care plan that respects your unique needs.

After 20+ years working with thousands of women, here's the truth I see every day:

Hormones work systemically. Your comfort lives locally, inside your tissues, fascia, microbiome, and nervous system.

That's why some women try hormones and still feel dry, itchy, tense, disconnected, or "not like myself."

It's NOT a failure.

It simply means your body is requesting daily care that medication alone cannot provide.

The "Missing Piece" Most Plans Skip

The Mother Jones coverage of Monday's FDA event revealed something important: even some of the doctors celebrating this change acknowledged that the conversation got oversimplified

One claim that menopause "kills women" was called "absurd" by multiple experts.

Another suggestion that HRT could save marriages was criticized as "really stretching it."

This is exactly why I created the Total Fem approach.

Because the truth is more empowering than the hype.

Your body isn't failing you during menopause; it's transitioning.

And whether you choose HRT or not, your tissues still need hydration, your fascia needs nourishment, your microbiome needs support, and your nervous system needs calm.

Think of your intimate wellness like a symphony

Hormones are one instrument, but your fascia, pelvic floor, gut–vaginal microbiome, and nervous system make up the rest of the orchestra.

Balance returns when they all play together.

So, even as medicine advances, daily self-care still matters.

Here's what these systems love most:

1. Hydration for tissuesinternal and external moisture keeps delicate skin flexible and comfortable.

2. Fascia nourishment complete proteins and gentle movement feed the connective tissue that supports your pelvic floor and pelvic organs.

3. Microbiome balancea diverse gut and vaginal flora help protect against irritation and infection.

4. Nervous-system calmconsistent sleep, breathwork, and magnesium-rich foods let muscles (including the pelvic floor) truly rest.

When these four foundations are in sync, women notice more energy, fewer flare-ups, and a deeper sense of connection to their bodies.

Gentle, Hormone-Free Support You Can Feel Every Day

For women who want an easy, science-backed way to support these pillars, whether you're on HRT or not, my Rootganic Total Fem Supplement Line was created for exactly this reason.

These formulas are hormone-free and plant-based, designed to complement your body's natural rhythm:

These aren't replacements for HRT; they're gentle, daily nourishment that helps your body thrive from the inside out, regardless of what other treatments you choose.

(If you'd like guidance on simple ways to build these habits—or to learn which foods, nutrients, and daily rituals support each pillar—I share my full framework inside the Total Fem “V” Secrets Masterclass.)

A story I'll never forget

Maria  (59) started low-dose estrogen.

The night sweats eased, but intimacy still hurt. We added a simple plan: internal hydration, external protection, and a short fascia routine she could do while the kettle boiled.

Two weeks later, she told me, "I can finally relax in my own body again."

That's the difference between treating a symptom and caring for the whole woman.

Try This Tonight — The 60-Second Pelvic Reconnect Ritual

You don't need a gym or a gadget—just one mindful minute.

  1. Sit or lie down and rest one hand over your lower belly.

  2. Inhale slowly through your nose for 4. As you inhale, collect any stress or tension you're holding in your pelvis.

  3. Exhale gently through your mouth for 6. Imagine that tension leaving with your breath, melting down through your hips and out through your mouth.

  4. Repeat this three times, allowing each exhale to become a little softer.

This quick reset improves local circulation, signals safety to your nervous system, and reminds your tissues it's okay to relax.

Do it once a day for a week and notice how your pelvic area starts to feel more alive and supported.

In my free masterclass, I'll teach a deeper variation that layers breath + fascia release for an even bigger shift.

The Bottom Line

The FDA update is progress, but your body is MORE than a lab value.

Comfort, confidence, and desire come back when your tissues are hydrated, your fascia is nourished, your microbiome is supported, and your nervous system can finally exhale.

Choose hormones or not—your daily care is what lasts.

The truth is, you ARE the healer.

Every sip of water, every breath, every act of self-care is your body remembering how powerful she is.

Let's remind her together.
