In many ways, women are expected to put themselves last. We’re constantly getting the message that our health concerns are invalid — just look at the way we’re treated by doctors and dismissed in clinical research. And we often get the message that our bodies exist simply to provide pleasure for men. As if that’s the highest and best use of our bodily resources — just look at the messaging around keeping your vagina “tight” and your breasts large but perky.
I’m done with feeling this way.
And I have a feeling you are too.
I’m ready to reclaim the female body, own our sexual pleasure, and prioritize our health…since no one else is going to do it for us.
Step one: breast massage.
Breast massage can help you to reawaken your long-lost libido, help teach you to put yourself first, and encourage lymphatic circulation. Plus, it’s an amazing tool for getting into the habit of familiarizing yourself with your body and checking your breasts for lumps.
After two of my closest friends were diagnosed with breast cancer, I’m recommending that every woman start massaging their breasts daily. Here’s why — and how to do it.
The benefits of breast massage are many and varied. At the top of the list is this: it helps you put yourself first. When you make self-care a priority, it changes you. It changes the energy you put out into the world. And it makes the bold declaration that you matter — and you believe you matter.
When you truly get into the habit of taking care of your body in this way, big things start to unfold.
Here are a few of the things you’ll notice when you get into breast massage as a daily practice.
Let’s be honest. There’s not much that can rev up your libido, like breast massage.
And as you age and estrogen and testosterone begin to wane, using natural methods to boost your libido becomes necessary. You see, estrogen and testosterone play an outsized role in governing your sex drive. But perimenopause and menopause see the levels of these two crucial hormones drop — and your libido takes a nosedive because of it.
Daily breast massage is a reminder that you are a woman and a healthy sex drive is something you deserve to enjoy.
Did you know that many women detect their own breast cancer by performing self-exams? (1)
Yes, daily breast massage keeps you familiar with every bit of your breast tissue. So you know for sure when something changes. It’s the ultimate tool for staying in tune with your body and gives you the power to alert your doctor if something suspicious crops up.
Again, when you take the time to put yourself at the top of your list for a few minutes every day, it changes how you see yourself and your health. And it makes it easier to advocate for yourself in the doctor’s office, too.
Your lymphatic system facilitates and enhances your immune system. And it also maintains fluid balance within your body. (2)
When you massage your breasts, you help your lymphatic fluid to support your breast tissue health. If you’ve ever experienced fibrocystic breasts or swollen breasts due to menopausal hormone changes — breast massage can help you relieve some of that pressure by encouraging lymphatic balance.
Performing a breast massage is a relatively simple process.
First, lightly oil your hands. My B-healthy Breast Defense Serum is a lovely, light, amazing-smelling oil packed with ingredients to support breast wellness, skin, and mood. It’s perfect to use for this self-love ritual.
1- After you’re oiled up, with a light touch, create small circles starting at the top of the breast, moving in a spiral motion and gently pulling outward until reaching the nipple. Repeat this process 2-3 times.
2- Pull from the nipple out towards your chest in short, light strokes.
3- Repeat this process 2-3 times. Perform this in a counterclockwise motion around the entire breast.
4- Lift your arm behind your head and massage your armpit, too. Use your hand to massage your armpit against the ribcage. Slowly and gently stretch the skin towards your back. Use stationary circles to move up towards the armpit. Repeat this process up to five times.
Be sure to check your breasts in the mirror for any redness or irritated skin.
Finally, feel relaxed, happy, and ready to tackle your partner!
I love performing this simple breast massage when I get out of the shower with my B-healthy Breast Defense Serum.
This organic, specially formulated oil blend is made with ingredients that support a lift in your mood.
And they are also phenomenal for your skin.
So when you get in the habit of doing this ritual every day, you’ll notice that it’s impossible to be in a bad mood after you’ve done it.
You’ll start to notice your skin feels amazing and smooth.
And you’ll feel your libido rise.
But even more than that, you’ll feel uplifted because of the self-love effect. This is that positive, feels-like-anything-is-possible feeling you get when you put yourself and your health FIRST. That’s because self-love and massage release oxytocin, a chemical in your body that helps fight stress and makes you feel flat-out happy.
I can’t wait for you to experience the benefits breast massage has unlocked for me and thousands of other women across the globe.
